Why This Matters
Chagas disease affects an estimated 6–7 million people worldwide, primarily in Latin America, but increasingly within the United States and other regions.
It is often called a “silent disease” because symptoms may not appear for years. By the time it is detected, it can lead to severe and irreversible heart complications.
